Zone Designation: ENTROPY EXPANSE
Code: ZN-EX-09
Zone Type: Terminal Decay Field / Structure Collapse
Status: Expanding / Unstable
Threat Class: Environmental + Conceptual / Slowburn Breach
Classification: RESTRICTED ZONE — OBSERVE ONLY
Zone Overview
The Entropy Expanse is not one place, but many broken ones overlapping. A warped, crumbling biome of collapsing physics, rusting air, and spatial exhaustion, it sits at the very edge of charted Bureau territory. Time does not hold here. Light misfires. Objects left in the Zone may return altered, inverted, or emotionally “wrong.”
Structures degrade faster than expected. Thought degrades faster than accepted.
No human lives in the Expanse. Even machines begin to fray.
The Bureau does not police the Entropy Expanse.
It simply watches it unravel.
Primary Characteristics
- Terrain is fractured and inconsistent: solid one moment, gas or void the next
- Looping ruins: visible in multiple places simultaneously
- Data-burnt stone: surfaces appear as corrupted scanlines or overexposed photographs
- Static dunes: particulate fields emit faint radio hum
- Sounds echo before they’re made
- Sky texture: corrupted gradient, like broken video signal
Known Bala Origins
Bala in the Expanse are rare and generally classified as Entity or Anomaly types. Many exhibit entropy-linked behavior, such as recursive memory bleed, spontaneous self-erasure, or incomplete materialization.
Hazards
- Concept Decay: Memory, purpose, even names begin to erode upon exposure
- Architecture Bleed: Man-made structures dissolve or grow into each other
- Loop Incursions: Some agents encounter multiple versions of themselves
- Color Drift: Vision loses spectrum fidelity the longer one remains
Containment Directives
- Zone is to be observed only, not entered
- Probes and drones must be tagged with active temporal anchors
- Agent presence limited to 6-minute “static loop passes”
- Recovery teams are only authorized for high-priority data tags
Additional Notes (Declassified)
- A collapsed archive tent was found containing a Bureau manual for a Zone that doesn’t exist
- Field note:
> “Everything here is tired. Even the rocks feel like they’re tired"
