Zone Designation: FATHOM DEEP
Code: ZN-FD-04
Zone Type: Submerged Ruins
Status: Degrading
Threat: Class II (REACTIVE)
Classification: CLEARANCE REQUIRED
Zone Overview
A sunken world of ancient ruins, flooded by a dense, cold, breathing ocean. Ghost ruins drift in impossible currents.
The landscape is a haunting tableau of submerged structures, their forms distorted by the relentless pressure and currents. Towering spires of coral and sediment rise from the ocean floor, entwined with the remnants of ancient architecture. The water is thick with particulate matter, creating an eerie, muted atmosphere where visibility is limited to mere feet. Strange bioluminescent flora and fauna cling to the ruins, casting an otherworldly glow that illuminates the desolation.
Hazards
- Sedimentary Collapse: Loose silt and corroded scaffolding shift without warning. Pressure spikes within ruin clusters can exceed survey rating in seconds.
- Pressure Anomaly: Depth gauges return inconsistent readings below the second shelf. Standard ascent protocols cannot be trusted; tethered ascent is mandatory.
- Bioluminescent Mimicry: Native flora imitates Bureau distress beacons with high fidelity. Verify all rescue signals against shore registry before responding.
- Cold Tide: Currents below the second shelf carry temperatures inconsistent with ambient conditions. Affected divers report localized time-loss of three to twelve minutes.
Notable Locations

Additional Notes
Audio recovered from Fathom Deep operates at reversed time signatures. Standard playback yields incomprehensible static; reversed playback produces voices speaking in pre-Bureau dialects, occasionally naming agents who have not yet been assigned to the zone. Recordings are restricted to Tier III review.
