Zone Designation: RUST SPIRE
Code: ZN-RS-03
Zone Type: Metallic Ruins
Status: Stable
Threat: Class II (REACTIVE)
Classification: CLEARANCE REQUIRED
Zone Overview
Endless fields of rusted towers and creaking, corroded landscapes. Metal devours flesh. Time itself rusts.
The Spire is a towering monolith of corroded metal, rising from the depths like a jagged tooth. Its surface is a patchwork of rusted plates, twisted girders, and ancient machinery, all fused together in a chaotic, decaying structure. The air around it is thick with the scent of salt and decay, and the sound of creaking metal echoes through the desolate landscape.
Hazards
- Corrosive Oxidation: Atmospheric particulates degrade exposed skin and lung tissue within an hour. Class IV-S respirators and full sealed dermals are mandatory.
- Structural Instability: Towers, walkways, and gantries collapse without warning. Vibration sensors must remain armed and tethered to a secondary anchor at all times.
- Toxic Atmosphere: Field rations must remain sealed at all times. Airborne metallic compounds will ferment hydration packs into corrosive slurry within twenty minutes of exposure.
Notable Locations
- The Iron Pulpit
- Marrow Foundry
- Section 9-Gantry
- The Quiet Furnace
Associated Logic Types
Entities from the Spire register as "Machine" and "Decayed" types. They exhibit slow, deliberate movement and a pronounced gravitation toward operational equipment, which they attempt to repair, dismantle, or absorb. Field protocol designates all Bureau machinery brought into the Spire as presumed-lost on entry.
Additional Notes
Ambient recordings from the Spire frequently capture rhythmic mechanical activity matching no Bureau equipment in current registry. Bureau analysts have not located the source. The rhythms are described as "industrious" by recovering agents and "patient" by those who have spent more than one shift inside.
