CASE FILE CU-FR-005: LOWSTEP FORM

Plane of Association: Spectral

Zone of Origin: Zephyr Vale

Last Known Location: Eastern mistfields near Echo Crossing

Containment Status: Monitored (non-intervention policy active)

Known Behaviors

Lowstep is a quadrupedal Bala resembling a cat with elongated limbs and impossibly recursive fur patterns. The fur shifts color in subtle gradients, and close observation reveals smaller catlike silhouettes within its strands. It moves silently, often trailing patterns of moss or dustless footprints behind it. It does not interact with humans but will pause briefly to observe before vanishing completely, often without visual transition. Its presence appears to calm other Bala in its vicinity.

Field Notes

  • — Emits no heat signature but leaves behind warm, dust-free surfaces.
  • — Fur trails loop visually when recorded — identical frames observed hundreds of times with no compression artifacts.
  • — Agent Voss: “It looked at me. I didn’t feel watched. I felt remembered.”
